Capital Improvement Project
Project Update Feed
Capital Improvements to begin March 17, 2025!
Construction to start March 17th!
What is happening at the library? Now that we have heat pumps, we can start the next phase of our capital improvements.
We are removing the furnace and furnace room in the basement, removing the drop-ceiling and HVAC ductwork for the furnace, installing sheetrock, and repainting the basement.
The end result will be a more welcoming, larger, safer, and warmer space for our community!
Changes to Library Operating Hours
We will be closed for three weeks beginning on Monday, March 17th. We will reopen to the public on Monday, April 7th.
Check-outs During Construction
Children's materials will be available for check-out until Wednesday, March 12th. After this point, the basement will be closed so that materials can be packed for the construction project.
Adult materials on the first floor will be available for check-out through Saturday, March 15th.
All materials will be unavailable for check-out during the construction window from March 17-April 7.
The Project is fully funded!

Project Information
About the Project
The Hollis Center Public Library is embarking on a capital campaign to raise funds for the replacement of its aging hot air furnace with energy-efficient heat pumps. This project will not only reduce the library's energy costs but also create a new, usable space in the basement for community programs and events.
The Hollis Center Public Library is a vital community resource, serving the citizens of Hollis and the surrounding areas. Our library provides essential services, including access to books and digital resources, educational programs for children and adults, and a gathering place for community events.
Our current heating system, a 30+ year-old hot air furnace, is inefficient and costly. By replacing it with modern, energy-efficient heat pumps, we will not only reduce our annual heating costs by approximately $2,500 but also create a new, fire-code-compliant space in the basement for community use.
This project is more than just an upgrade to our facilities; it is an investment in the future of our library and our community. By supporting this campaign, donors will help us create a sustainable, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone who visits the library.
Your combined grassroots and community support will help us reach our goal of $50,000!
