The Hollis Center Public Library Book Club meets on the second Wednesday evening of each month from 5:30-7:00pm. The Book Club reads a selection of member-nominated literature of all genres. The Book Club is run by Jocelyn W. Gallagher, and enjoys a robust membership of over a dozen regular attendees from all walks of life.
All community members are welcome to join the book club. You must be a member of the library to join. To start your library membership, and/or join the Book Club, simply email our Librarian (director@holliscenterpubliclibrary.org).
All Book Club members will be added to our emailing list. You can pick up your copy of the next month's reading anytime before our meeting at the library.
Please help us expand our library book club's reading list by sharing your recommendations via the Google Form below.
Guidelines:
To make recommendations, you should be an active member of the Book Club. You are considered an active member if you have attended at least one meeting in the last calendar year.
Make as many recommendations as you like! We will strive to have at least one recommendation from every member selected for the upcoming year.
Recommendations should meet most of the following guidelines: under 400 pages, published at least one year ago, and ideally in our catalog (or easily obtained by the library using MaineCat)
If you are looking for ideas of things for us to read, check out book club lists like the NY Times annual book list, NPR's list, Read with Jenna's list, or Oprah's Book Club.
Looking for a fun way to stay engaged and inspired this summer? Join our Adult Summer Reading Challenge, open to teens and adults (14+)!
Pick up a Bingo card at the Hollis Center Public Library starting June 1st and complete a variety of reading and library-related tasks—like reading a book in a new genre, attending a library event, or tackling a puzzle. For each completed square, a librarian will stamp your card.
Each Bingo (a full row, column, or diagonal) earns you one entry into our Grand Prize Drawing on September 1st, featuring gift certificates to local businesses!
It’s a great way to explore new stories, support your library, and have some summer fun. Stop in, grab your card, and get reading!
This summer, we are all about puzzles and games! Join Hollis Center Public Library’s 2025 Summer Reading Program, "Level UP at Your Library"!
Reading and game playing are ways for you to unwind, regroup, de-stress and recharge your battery. We’ll have fun focusing on games, puzzles, teamwork and sharing.
The program runs from June 30th until August 18th.
The program is simple-read books, play games and contests and attend events to earn prizes. You will be given a reading tracker when you enroll.
Ready to play? Sign-up on the sheet at the check-out desk!
